The University of Georgia Golf Course, designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones Sr., is a championship-caliber course nestled in the rolling hills of Athens, Georgia. Opened in 1968, this course has a rich history, serving as the home course for the UGA Bulldogs golf teams and hosting numerous collegiate and professional events, including the NCAA Men's and Women's Golf Championships. Its classic design emphasizes strategic shot-making, with well-placed bunkers and water hazards demanding precision and thought from golfers of all skill levels.
The course underwent a significant renovation in 2006 by Love Golf Design (Davis Love III and Mark Love), which modernized the facilities while preserving Jones's original vision. This renovation included new greens, tees, and bunkers, enhancing the challenge and playability. The layout features mature tree-lined fairways, dramatic elevation changes, and pristine Bermuda grass conditions, offering a truly enjoyable and challenging round.
Playing the UGA Golf Course provides a unique blend of collegiate tradition and high-quality golf. The course is known for its immaculate conditioning, especially the fast, undulating greens that test even the best putters. With its challenging layout and beautiful natural setting, it offers a memorable golf experience that reflects the high standards of the University of Georgia athletic program.
